5 Helpful Back To School Shopping Tips. That exciting time of year is coming up. The first day of school is just around the corner!
It’s time to tackle all of the back to school shopping prep, from scoping out the new classroom to getting fresh haircuts to checking every item off of your list for back to school shopping.
It can definitely prove to feel overwhelming, but don’t stress!
We have our top tips on how to make back to school shopping a breeze.
5 Helpful Back To School Shopping Tips
1. Set a Budget
It can be tempting once you get in the stores to toss every sparkly bomber jacket and pair of cool sneakers you walk past into the shopping cart.
Determine how much you want to spend before you walk into the store, and stick to it! You can find shopping lists for each grade in school, so take a look and decide how much you need to budget for school supplies vs. school clothes and shoes.
While you’re nailing down your budget, sit down with your child and ask them what kinds of things they really want for the new school year.
We all remember growing up and seeing all the kids at school wearing a certain brand of backpack or style of clothing.
Talk with your budding scholar and see if they are dying for one particular style or trend. This may help you to better know what your budget is going to look like.
2. Make a Game Plan To Save On School Supplies
With your budget and shopping lists in hand, map out a game plan of where you want to make your purchases. While it may be easier to buy everything in one place, it can definitely prove to be the pricier way to go.
Do a little research on the back to school sales and see which stores have the best deals!
In the end, you’ll find that it’s worth jumping from store to store when you realize just how much money you were able to save. Be sure to schedule a lunch break for you and the kiddos!
3. Keep the Kids Entertained
There will come a point in your back-to-school shopping when your kids begin to tire of the seemingly endless string of stores and errands.
Be sure to come prepared with the tools to keep them happy and occupied while you check everything off your list. Have some snacks in your bag, or tell them to bring a book. Maybe strike up a game to play, such as I Spy.
Have a baby on board? Be sure to make your little one as comfortable as possible for your errands.
Consider a shopping cart seat for baby to stay snug, safe and satisfied, a well as keeping the base of your cart free to hold those fun, new school supplies!

4. Stock Up On School Essentials
Make things more simple for next year by stocking up on certain supplies!
If you are positive that your child will need a new box of crayons for the next school year, or if they go through notebooks especially fast, stock up on those basic supplies while the sale prices are hot.
Set aside all of your additional supplies in a box and tuck it away, and add to it when you see other supplies go on sale. You will be so glad you did come next year!
5. Keep Your Receipts
If you’re in the habit of tossing receipts as soon as you get home, do your very best to set them aside for “just in case”.
It is totally possible that your little man could shoot up a couple of inches, and those new pants you got him are now cropped at the ankles, or maybe those shoes that your little girl was obsessed with a few weeks ago just aren’t cutting it anymore.
It would be rough trying to return those without a receipt, so be sure to hold on to those little slips of paper for any unseen changes in the plan!
Back To School Shopping – You’ve Got This
Now that you’re equipped with all of the know-how, you are totally ready to get out there and tackle everything on your back to school shopping agenda.
With your to-do lists and game plans, you’re sure to have success in your back-to-school shopping. Happy shopping!
