You read the title right: you can make money testing games. There are many ways of making some extra money on the side, but some aren’t that desirable. And when they aren’t desirable, you end up quitting them. Whereas, if you find a side hustle that you can enjoy, you more likely to keep doing it and make some decent money in the process. Ready to find out how? Let me share with you about PlaytestCloud.
Make Money Testing Games with PlaytestCloud
I always like learning about new ways to earn some side money that’s flexible and fun to do. With our hectic schedules it’s hard to set specific time aside for jobs that require you to have a schedule. And, honestly some side hustles can get super boring super fast. I’ve had my share of side hustles that turned into being nothing but a waste of time, earning only a few cents a hour.
That’s what attracted to me to PlaytestCloud when they asked for me to write a review about becoming a game tester. (Yes, I was paid to write this honest and transparent review.) Basically, PlaytestCloud is in need of testers to try out game apps that game makers need testing. You talk about the game as you play it. And, while you play and talk, your voice and the screen is recorded, Game makers want to hear what you think about the game as you’re playing it.
(Tip: play the games in a quiet place where you won’t have kids and pets coming across in the recording.)
Signing Up
Getting started is easy. Go to the sign up page at: https://www.playtestcloud.com/signup and fill out the easy form. They aren’t going ask for a resume or interview you. It’s just basic stuff like your name, contact info, and what devices you own. Here’s what you’ll need:
- a current smartphone/tablet or a Mac/PC
- a pair of headphones
- a PayPal account
Getting to Work
When you get signed up, you’ll receive emails that include the info for the test you’ll need to complete to be paid. Testers are chosen randomly and on average receive an email every other week. Pay is around $7-9 per test. Each test takes about 15 minutes. If you think about that’s a nice per hour rate for testing a game!
You might think $14-18 a month isn’t much. But, over time that builds up. You could use it to help fund your Christmas or vacation budget. And, when you consider how much time we use up playing games on our own time (or watching TV or looking at our social media accounts)… getting paid for something fun sounds really good!
Is This For Real?
If you’re still skeptical, PlaytestCloud is legit. They’ve worked with large game developers like Wooga (Jelly Splash) and TinyCo (Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff). And, they have many game tester reviews on their signup page that talk about working with them and getting paid. If you want to learn more visit their FAQ’s page.
Conclusion
If you enjoy playing games, you can spend 15 minutes twice a month, and can find a quiet place to work, then I recommend signing up to be a tester for PlaytestCloud. It would make a fun and easy side hustle to earn some extra cash.
